Applicants are evaluated based on the following criteria:

Academic education.
Clinical education and mentoring experiences.
Clinical experience in orthopedic physical therapy.
Continuing education coursework.
Optional phone and / or personal interview.
Strength of feedback from references.

Current Admissions Process and Timeline for Orthopedic Residency Program:

  • January 1st – March 1st: Open application period
  • First two full weeks of March: Initial phone or video interviews
  • Last two weeks of March into first week of April: Second video or in-person interviews
  • First two to three weeks of April: Electronic offer letters of accepted applicants will be sent

Current Admissions Process and Timeline for Women’s Health Residency Program:

  • January 1st – May 1st:  Open application period
  • May-June:  Scheduled in-person interview
  • July: Electronic offer letters of accepted applicants will be sent

Minimal eligibility requirements for acceptance into the program include:

  1. Licensure as a Physical Therapist by the California Physical Therapist Licensing Board.
  2. Completion of at least six (6) months of clinical experience in physical therapy providing direct patient care as a physical therapy student intern or physical therapist.
  3. Have excellent communication skills.
  4. Being physically able to appropriately perform manual examination and treatment procedures.
  5. Observation of the applicant performing a mock initial evaluation and treatment on a subject.
  6. Having the psychological, social and physical stability required for participation in and successful completion of the Program.
  7. Submission to Agile PT a resume / CV, and contact information for 3 references.
  8. Comply with all Agile PT employment requirements.

Desirable applicants include those who:

  1. Completed an extended internship, although not required, under the direct supervision of a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy or Women’s Health Physical Therapy.
  2. Possess superior verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by completion of a personal interview with the Program’s director/coordinator, as well as clinic administrators, to explore goals, and objectives for entering the Program.
  3. Possess strong fundamentals in the principles of clinical reasoning and the application of orthopedic or women’s health physical therapy examination and treatment procedures as evidenced and referenced by previous direct clinical instructor or work supervisor.

Retention policy for future employment with Agile PT following graduation from the Program include:

  1. Highly competent and dedicated advanced orthopedic or women’s health practitioner who desires to be credentialed as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) or Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (WCS) as evidenced by completion of an application to sit for the exam.
  2. Leadership skills as evidenced by example during the Program.
  3. Clinical performance, demonstration of professional behavior, and performance working with the Agile team during the residency.
  4. The availability of a clinical position within Agile Physical Therapy.
