Project Description

Aaron Cortez

Aaron graduated from UCSF/SFSU in 2017 earning is Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  He then went on to complete the Agile Orthopedic Residency from 2017-2018. Aaron is originally from San Diego.  He graduated UCSD in 2010 with a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and spent his early 20’s working at the Salk Institute in La Jolla as a research assistant in a vision and movement processing laboratory. During this time, he spent evenings and weekends recording music, playing live shows and teaching guitar lessons since music is a huge passion of his.

After spending time working at a physical therapy clinic in San Diego, his interests shifted to physical therapy because he deeply valued the connection physical therapists have with their patients and the emphasis on optimizing movement to improve the human experience.  During his second year of PT school, he ruptured his Achilles tendon while playing racquetball. Going through surgery and the rehabilitation that followed furthered his empathy and understanding of what it is like to be a patient on the long road to recovery.

In his spare time, Aaron likes to trail run, hike, lift weights, swim, play guitar and go wine tasting.
