What is Physical Therapy for Golfers?

Golf is a complex movement based sport with strenuous demands on the body.  As movement specialists, with extensive medical knowledge, Physical therapists are uniquely skilled to analyze movement, prescribe a specific exercise program, and address lifestyle habits.  Often we interact with clients during their rehabilitation after surgery or injury.  During this time we work towards impairments, functional goals and recreational goals.  Due to insurance restraints, we often reach functional goals of activities of daily life but may not have the specialization or time to reach recreational goals.  Agile physical therapists realized we needed a program to meet these recreational goals.  Each of the physical therapists in this program are uniquely trained to assess your biomechanics, recovery habits, and strength/ conditioning that affect your golf game.

How does Golf Physical Therapy work?

We will first start with an evaluation by a physical therapist to review your past medical history, factors affecting recovery, golf capacity and goals.  From there we will go through a gold specific functional screen/ assessment to review areas of improvement.  Using objective data from a launch monitor and real time 3D analysis of your swing, we will have clear metrics to track over time.  Together we will synthesize a specialized exercise program to meet your goals.

What’s included?

  • 12 weeks of individualized programming
  • Golf functional movement screen
  • Exercise therapy
  • Manual therapy
  • Balance &  movement training
  • Strength & conditioning
  • Consultations with an orthopedic surgeon (as needed)

[[That program will incorporate a combination of exercise, manual therapy, balance, movement training, strength/conditioning and as needed a consultation from an orthopedic surgeon in our program.  Over the course of 4 to 12 weeks we will implement an individualized program that fits your goals and situation.]]

At check ins, we will re-assess your launch/ 3D movement and performance to guide treatment.

What is the purpose of this program?

We are here to provide tailored care with your individual preferences, past medical history, past surgical history and goals in mind.  We will work with you together to build a foundation of capacity for you to generate the power you need to drive the ball hard and play 18 holes as often as you want.  We are not here to replace your swing coach, rather to work adjunctively with your golf team.

At Agile Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine our caring and empathetic physical therapists want to collaborate with you to achieve your goals. Learn why Agile is the best in the business.
