Tyler Vinson

Meet Tyler
Tyler was born and raised in the Bay Area and graduated from CSU Long Beach in 2015 with a B.S. in Kinesiology – Exercise Science and then graduated from Hampton University, Virginia in 2019 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. In grad school he primarily worked in orthopedics but had one rotation in an outpatient neurological setting where he worked with high complexity stroke, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions.
His interest for Physical Therapy was sparked when he went through some ankle sprains in high school playing volleyball and attended a couple sessions with a friend's dad who was a PT who looked like he loved what he did.
He has been working in outpatient orthopedics over the last 3 years and enjoys treating a variety of conditions of all ages, activity levels, and goals. Has experience as an Assistant Clinic Director where he managed the aide team, created a pain science mentorship program for new grads, and handled a variety of admin tasks.
He is trained and taken 7 courses through the Institute of Clinical Excellence (Persistent Pain, Lumbar, Cervical Spine, and Extremity Management, Modern Management of Older Adult, Total Spine Thrust techniques, and Management of the Fitness Athlete) and hopes to get certified with this company in the next 1-2 years. He loves the narrative and style they push of a fitness forward physical therapy approach, introducing weights to the general population and older adults for actual lifelong positive change and resiliency. As well as moving away from unnecessary imaging, medication, and negative wording related to diagnoses and focusing on the ecosystem as a whole with sleep, stress, diet, and physical activity. He also loves to rehab overhead athletes and specifically volleyball players due to playing his whole life.
In his spare time Tyler enjoys playing sand/grass/indoor volleyball, snowboarding, hiking, working out, going to music shows and breweries, playing with his new puppy, and camping/traveling with his fiance.
