What is Physical Therapy for Basketball Players?
The best way to enhance your availability and performance is through effective strength and conditioning combined with guidance from a physical therapist. Through the use of the most up to date technology and individualized performance assessments, we can help build a robust and elite program for your athlete.
As physical therapists, we are uniquely qualified and positioned to provide care to professional athletes at any touch point on the injury continuum. Whether you're looking to improve your physical performance, like vertical jump, or resolve a painful nagging injury, we are here to help!
How Does Our Basketball Program Work?
Receive personalized feedback, set achievable goals, and a structured training plan for each athlete. Whether you're looking to enhance your current training regimen on your own or seeking a new approach for your team, we're here to help you succeed.
What’s included?
All of our programs are run by NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Coaches and Board-Certified Sports & Orthopaedic Physical Therapists with High School and D1 Collegiate Experience.
- Performance Assessments
Get baseline measures and repeated testing throughout your AAU and school seasons. Similar to the NBA combine, we utilize equipment and technology like force plates, strength testing, and limb-symmetry indexes to help determine basketball readiness, and risk of injury as would current NBA trainers.
- Strength and Conditioning (1-on-1 and Group Training)
Worried that you’re not getting the care you deserve in basketball camps and other generic settings? We offer one on one training, which gives you the most attention and individualization to help you meet your needs. Our group training is kept small to ensure that quality and attention is given to each athlete without breaking the bank.
- Individualized Return to Basketball Rehabilitation
Suffered a season ending ACL-injury or dealing with a nagging jumper's knee? We only employ the best and most qualified professionals to handle your care. All basketball rehabilitation services are provided one on one (no aides or support staff) by Doctors of Physical Therapy through collaboration on an individualized basketball rehab plan to get you back on the court better than ever!
What is the Purpose of This Physical Therapy Program?
Our purpose is to maximize a basketball athlete's potential while minimizing injury risk through evidence-based, technologically informed sports performance training and physical therapy.
Preventing Common Injury Risks in Basketball Movements
Basketball’s dynamic movements place stress on key areas prone to injury:
- Jump Shots & Rebounds: High-impact jumping can strain knees and ankles, leading to conditions like patellar tendinitis.
- Quick Directional Changes: Rapid cuts risk knee injuries, especially ACL tears.
- Sprinting: Repeated sprinting often leads to hamstring and calf muscle strains.
- Overhead Motions: Frequent shooting and blocking can strain shoulder muscles, risking rotator cuff issues.
Further, we strive to establish Agile as the premier location for basketball rehabilitation and performance for athletes from high school to professional levels.
