Derek Xie
Meet Derek
Dr. Derek Xie graduated from Marymount University in Arlington, VA with his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2018. He continued with his training and became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 2021. He further enhanced his knowledge and skillset via the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy by obtaining status as the Certified Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Therapist in 2024. He is trained in concussion management through the MedStar Health Concussion Certification program. Lastly, he is level 1 certified by SMART Tools in using instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization techniques.
Derek enjoys working with individuals of varying fitness levels from athletes to the general population. He has a special interest in sports related injuries. He encourages his patients to make lifestyle changes such exercise as a means to improve functional strength and overall quality of life. He enjoys spending time with patients to build a strong rapport and collaborating with other healthcare providers to deliver individualized care plans. Derek utilizes a holistic approach to treatment that allows him to broaden the scope of care to the patient as a whole.
Outside of the clinic, Derek likes to spend time with his friends and family, exercise, cook new dishes, travel, and eat at different restaurants.
