What is Hand Therapy?

Our arms and hands are integral to everything we do. You need the best physical therapy for your pain or surgery and that's Agile Physical Therapy.

We're simply the best. Hand therapy is a therapeutic specialty provided by physical and occupational therapists. This speciality service focuses on rehabilitation for injuries and/or surgeries of the fingers, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Our empathetic physical therapists understand what it means to lose function in such an important part of your body. They want to partner with you to create a treatment plan for an efficient and effective recovery so you can get back to doing what you love!

What should I expect of my hand therapy appointment?

First, your highly skilled hand therapist will take an extensive medical history. They will ask about your current condition, pain, or surgery and your goals for the future. They will work together with your doctor or surgeon to ensure they know everything about your particular case. Secondly, they will perform a movement evaluation on relevant body regions. That may mean just the hand, wrist, elbow or the entire upper quarter. Lastly, they will explain what they saw / felt and how that relates to their clinical findings. Your caring hand therapist will work with you to create an individualized plan of care.

What will my plan of care look like with hand therapy?

Your plan of care will be create in collaboration with your physical therapist based off your goals. They often includes exercises, stretches, manual therapy, education, activity modification and modalities when appropriate. We want to make sure your plan of care fits with your lifestyle. They will make sure to go through your exercises with you and email them so you can do them at home.
