Alexandra Kalayta
Meet Alexandra
Alexandra Kalayta completed her Masters in Physical Therapy at Boston University, and began her orthopedic practice at the prestigious California Pacific Medical Center, where she saw a diverse, medically challenging population while interacting with top orthopedic surgeons. She completed her Doctorate at Northeastern University on a sports medicine track, which culminated in an in-depth study on the treatment of shoulder pain in the tennis player and a transition into private practice.
Alexandra brings over 14 years of outpatient orthopedic experience and has established a reputation among colleagues and referring physicians as an accomplished specialist in sports related shoulder and knee problems. She spent much of her early career perfecting her manual therapy skills through extensive Maitland Australian Physiotherapy seminars and coursework in treating injuries of the over- head athlete, and injuries of the lower extremity.
She takes great pride in providing individualized, comprehensive, evidence based treatment, assisting patients in their recovery back to their active lifestyle. In addition, she ensures that every patient leaves not only rehabilitated, but with a better understanding of their pathology and what they need to do to ensure long term functionality. Alexandra is strongly committed to sports injury prevention through community screenings, education and outreach. She has developed several unique programs incorporating sport specific conditioning and injury prevention techniques drawing on her own extensive experience as an equestrian on the Hunter-Jumper “A” circuit, and a USTA competitive tennis player, as well as led instructional classes on the techniques of using Nordic Walking Poles for rehab and conditioning. She worked providing acute medical care to the elite athletes of the Olympic Club Rugby Team on the pitch where she assessed, treated, taped, etc. and feels sports medicine physios at sporting events are invaluable.
In her free time, Alex plays recreational tennis, cycles, hikes, fulfills her English Labrador’s demands to regularly visit the beach, and enjoys exploring Bay Area cultural events.
